Video Recordable DVD Drive

Manual recording

  1. Connect a video device using:
    • S video cable
    • AV cable

  2. Turn on the drive
    • The On/Off switch is located in the upper part of the back side of the drive.
  3. Press EJECT button and insert disc
    • The Eject button is located on top of the drive.
    • After inserting a disc press eject button again.
    • Wait until "Format" on the display window changes to "Ready".

  4. Turn on the video device (VCR/Camera)
  5. Select the recording conditions
    • By pressing the INPUT SELECT button select the input, to which the video device connected. The "SIG" sign on the display indicates the presence of the signal in the selected input.
    • By pressing the REC MODE button select the recording mode - HQ (high quality), SP (standard quality), or SLP (low quality). With these recording modes you will be able to record on a standard single layer DVD disc approximately 1 hour, 2 hour, or 6 hours, respectively.

  6. Set the video device to the playback pause mode
    • Press Play on the VCR/Camera and right after that press pause.

  7. Start recording
    • Press REC button on the drive and start playback on the video device (VCR/Camera) - usually by pressing Play or Pause button again.

  8. Stop recording
    • Press the STOP button on the drive.

  9. Press the EJECT button to eject the disc
    • When using DVD+R, DVD-R, or DVD-RW disc, the "Finalize?" prompt appears.
    • If you finalize the disc, you will not be able to record anything else on that disc, but you will make it compatible with other DVD devices, such as DVD players. If you do not want to finalize the disc, press FUNCTION/ENTER button, and eject the disc.
    • To finalize the disc (when "Finalize?" prompt is on the display), press SELECT button to select "Yes", press FUNCTION/ENTER button, when "Reconfirm?" prompt appears on the display, press SELECT button and FUNCTION/ENTER button again.
    • When finalizing is complete, eject the disc.

Selecting a chapter interval

DVD contents consist of sections, called titles, and smaller subsections, called chapters. On this drive, a title is created each time new recording is started, and chapters are created automatically at selected intervals. To select this interval:
  1. By pressing the FUNCTION/ENTER button multiple times select "Auto Chp" on the display.
  2. Press SELECT button to select the desired interval and press FUNCTION/SELECT button again to confirm this interval.

Erasing a disc

DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs can be recorded multiple times. You can erase the disc by following these steps:
  1. Make sure the drive is on and DVD+RW or DVD-RW disc is inserted.
  2. By pressing the FUNCTION/ENTER button multiple times select "Erase All?" on the display.
  3. Press SELECT button to select "Yes" and press FUNCTION/ENTER button again.
  4. After "Reconfirm?" prompt appears on the display, press SELECT to select "Yes" and then press FUNCTION/ENTER button again.
  5. Wait for the "Ready" message on the display and eject the disc.
